It’s time, once again, to take a long hard look at the weeks television. Twenty years have passed since the first episode of The Brothers Greenthumb (Sunday), and it’s still going strong as it returns for a new series. The everyday story of a family of gardeners has changed dramatically since it first hit our screens. The first series ongoing plot revolved around eldest brother Alan’s battle with a fungal foot infection, and its effect on his ability to strim. The latest series follows on directly from last years bloodbath cliffhanger. Will Alan’s son, Skags, survive the bitter turf war with their arch-enemies, the Lawnbusters? I won’t spoil it for you, but this is unmissable television.
Controversial game show Fear My Clit (Wednesday) continues as husband is pitted against wife, as she uses her empowered vagina to hypnotise her spouse in to committing a series of demeaning acts. This week follows the Smith-Jones, and features Mr Smith-Jones licking a wellington boot in a bridal shop. It’s weirder than anything on Japanese TV, and it could seriously damage your mental health.
Finally, there’s the resurgent Peabody Place (Monday, Tuesday – 2 episodes, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday -3 episodes, Saturday, Sunday omnibus), which has another barnstorming week. The alien invasion storyline continues apace as Bill Bollington organises the resistance into an effective fighting unit and they finally capture their first Oooong. Will they manage to get the plans to the mother-ship from the amphibian extraterrestrial? Elsewhere, Beryl considers her options as the credit crunch bites, and she loses her job at the biscuit factory.
Keep watching the screens.
